The Right Kind of Wrung

Style

So lately, the blog has been getting a lot of attention and I’ve been receiving a lot of products and clothing from different companies. One of the first companies that I shot for in particular, Wrung, contacted me recently to shoot their latest collection.

For those of you who follow my blog avidly, know that Wrung is a popular French street wear brand that uses art to influence it’s style. 9couture brought Wrung to SA last year and have relocated their flagship store to Maboneng Precinct.

I visited their store last week and handpicked some sick items. A bomber jacket,  and the most comfortable sweaters. What I love about Wrung is their comfort, quality and trendy clothing. I’ve always been a fan from the first time I was introduced to it.

I recommend you check out their page and even go a step further and visit their store in Maboneng!

You guessed correctly, my fiancé Layla Shaik Photography kills the shoot every time!

James Dean Inspired

Style, Uncategorized

One of the biggest trends in street style this season is denim on denim, so I decided to a look post after finding this sick denim jacket from Zara.

One of my biggest style icons ever has got to be James Dean- the quintessential rebel, who always pushed limits in life as well as in fashion.

My look was inspired by him and I went for a very retro vibe. And can I just say that this is by far my favourite look thus far.

The jacket has all these cool badges on and makes the jacket more exciting. And what better way to finish the look than with a skinny faded jeans from Diesel.

This year it’s all been about street style and I think I’m slowly adapting and focusing more on it than anything, because it’s so edgy and I get to push boundaries.

My best friend and photographer Layla Shaik and I love shooting at buildings with glazing and my favourite place to shoot at is Keyes in Rosebank. Here’s what we came up with.

GO WITH YOUR GUT

Style

Lately, I feel like I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone and slowly drifting away from my nonchalant stance in life. And in this post you’ll notice how different I am.

I tried to be as candid as possible with my shots. I even popped a smile in the one shot! If you were to ask me to describe my style in three words, it would be ‘unique, edgy and spontaneous.’ See most of the time I try to picture an outfit in my head and then just go with my gut, regardless of whether it’s what everyone else is going for or not.

I have the same mentality in life, don’t try to make everyone happy, because trust me you won’t succeed. You have to do what’s best for you. I know it’s a cliché, but it’s the only way you’ll remain happy.

Right, now that I’m done being all deep, let’s get back to my outfit. You’ll notice that this outfit is very simple, but fun. The black denim jeans, paired with all black sneakers, bring out the pastel green tee-shirt. Both my tee shirt and denim jeans were sourced from Topman in Sandton which is my go to place for most of my items. Shoutout to LSP for making this shoot so fun.

NYFW INSPIRED STREET STYLE

Style

Not too long ago, yet another successful fashion week was held in New York. And after seeing some really amazing street style shots I decided to do my very own NYFW inspired street style shoot, except mine was done in Sandton.

It’s amazing how a little wind, some yellow cabs and some skyscrapers can instantly make you feel like you’re in another city. If I hadn’t mentioned to you that this shoot was done in Sandton, you probably would’ve thought it really was done in NYC haha!

There’s something about a suit that just makes you feel important. You’re noticed more easily and many people stop and stare out of curiosity to see what it is you’re up to.

For this shoot I partnered up with Kurt Geiger and The Dapper Toad. And I came up with this fresh look. I love how a simple pocket square and floral lapel pin can transform your suit jacket and instantly make it more stylish. If you haven’t already, you should definitely have a look at @thedappertoadsa for all you dapper needs.

CASUAL VIBES

Style

So a few people have been asking me what I usually wear to campus, I therefore decided to do a post on a casual look. And no I dont wear formal wear all the time haha. Campus is a really chilled enviroment so I go for a laid back look, usually opting for either a pair of jeans or sweatpants paired with t-shirts, hoodies etc.

I really like cotton t-shirts that are plain and they work perfect in the hot summer weather. Also not forgetting some sneakers like these Adidas Superstars that practically go with everything. If you guys really like this kind of look leave a comment and I’ll do a few more look posts.

You can also expect more street style from now which you’ll see in my next post. I’m really trying to challenge myself to bring better content. Layla and I did this shoot in Parkhurst which is now my go to place for shoots.

THE LAST OF WINTER FALL

Style

As we now enter a new season (Spring) I decided to do one last post for a Winter inspired look. Over the past few days I have been inspired to give my blog a minimalist approach, by focusing on whites, blacks and mostly neutral tones. You’ll even notice my blog has a new logo and design.

The reason for this is I am slowly adapting my style and want my blog to reach new levels. For my avid readers you can expect more consistent posts and content that hopefully will keep you inspired. I am hoping to work with more brands and share my vision with you.

Coming back to this winter look, I just had to show you this lapel winter coat I got from Zara. It’s really warm and also really trendy. Usually I would go for a collared shirt, but the weather was relatively warm which is why I decided on one of my favourite white tees- the famous YSL fitted tee everyone asks me about. I got this as a gift from one of my family relatives who brought it back from her travels to Dubai.

You’ll also notice I’ve been wearing ‘smart’ trousers which are very in at the moment and I got these on sale at Topman. They are really comfortable and pretty much work with anything. I also decided on my metallic Air Force Nike sneakers which I got from Sheshsa.

I am hoping that I will get more posts published in the near future and bring new and exciting content every week. If you are a regular reader on my blog please click on the follow button below and you’ll never miss a post again.

ROCKING EFFORTLESS STYLE

Style

Recently, I was asked by Kurt Geiger to shoot for their massive chino campaign. I was allowed to pick out pieces that I personally liked, from their collection.

When it comes to picking out your chinos, always look for chinos that look good, have a great fit and are versatile with other clothing. And these Kurt Geiger chinos definitely fit all the above categories.

Always look for colours that will pop and bring out the colour of your chino. I’m specifically referring to your shirts, tee shirts and golfers.

What I love most about these chinos is that they can be worn formally or semi-formally. They are also really comfortable with great detailing.

Laylashaikphotography and I decided to do this shoot in Parkhurst and here’s what we came up with…

Watch: Hugo Boss Orange

SERENITY

Style

This look was all about comfort and warmth.  I tried to keep it as casual as possible with a detailed hoodie from Wrung, jeans from Markham and boots from Topman.

I really like the floral print on the hoodie which adds a little more detail to it, a key characteristic found in Wrung clothing.

This shoot was all about taking it back to nature and finding serenity. And Autumn is the perfect opportunity to do this. The leaves are golden brown and it paints the perfect picture for a background. Myself and Laylashaikphotography decided to do this shoot at Emerantia Dam which is breathtakingly beautiful.

This is my last post for Wrung so don’t forget to check out their dope clothing on their website: http://www.9couture.co.za

DAPPERED IN KURT GEIGER

Style

If you know me by now, you’ll know that I like to be different from everyone else. I like to create my own unique style. This is why I went for something completely different in this look post.

Usually most people will go for the conventional white and blue or blue and blue. However, I decided that I’d go for burgundy and blue and the results speak for themselves. Don’t get me wrong white and blue and blue and blue work well, but who says you have to do what everyone else does?

I felt really sophisticated in this suit, it’s got a different feel to it. I also fancied my Ted Baker brogues which gave the look an extra touch of sophistication. What I love most about the jacket, is that it can be worn with the trouser as a full on suit or in a slightly less formal style with a pair of jeans or chinos.

This shoot was done in a street in Parkhurst by the lovely Laylashaikphotography.

Belt: Gucci

Sunglasses: Zara

WRUNG-ART x FASHION

Style

I must say when I was first approached by Matiase from 9Couture to collaborate with them and do a post on their latest brand Wrung, I was first unfamiliar with the brand. However, when I did some research I found out that Wrung has actually been around for quite some time.

Wrung- French clothing brand was established in 1995 in Paris. The brand focuses on combining art with fashion. Gaining inspiration from graffiti, contemporary art and emerging cultures the brand has produced some amazing pieces. You could say Wrung is best known for their street wear.

9Couture has finally brought this brand to South Africa and it is slowly becoming more and more popular. I got to personally pick out my favorite pieces from their collection and I am definitely impressed. Their clothing is dope and is super trendy and comfy. I can personally vouch for their quality. Look many may will argue that their clothing is expensive and not very popular right now, but I guarantee you wont be disappointed. Wrung is imported so it works with the Euro-Rand exchange which is why it appears so expensive, but remember you’re paying for quality.

This shoot was done by Laylashaikphotography who shares the same vision as me so check her out on insta- @Laylashaikphotography The shoot took place in a street in Rosebank which has some cool graffiti art.
