The Right Kind of Wrung

Style

So lately, the blog has been getting a lot of attention and I’ve been receiving a lot of products and clothing from different companies. One of the first companies that I shot for in particular, Wrung, contacted me recently to shoot their latest collection.

For those of you who follow my blog avidly, know that Wrung is a popular French street wear brand that uses art to influence it’s style. 9couture brought Wrung to SA last year and have relocated their flagship store to Maboneng Precinct.

I visited their store last week and handpicked some sick items. A bomber jacket,  and the most comfortable sweaters. What I love about Wrung is their comfort, quality and trendy clothing. I’ve always been a fan from the first time I was introduced to it.

I recommend you check out their page and even go a step further and visit their store in Maboneng!

You guessed correctly, my fiancé Layla Shaik Photography kills the shoot every time!

City Runs In Athleisure

Style

I was running through the city with my woes… Nah just kidding, I was running through the city in my sick Nike gear from Nike Sandton!

Okay hold up, before we go any further with this post I need to apologize to my readers for the lack of blog activity recently. I am not one to complain, but I’ve been swamped with a lot of work recently and have been finding it hard to find the time to post. That said, I promise I am not going to be neglecting my blog any further.

Now back to this look I shot in the streets of Sandton city, I wanted to do something different and more interactive this time. And I think my photographer Layla (who is also my Fiancé now 😉 ) and I achieved the look pretty well.

If you are an avid reader of my blog, you will notice I love dark glazed backgrounds and proper street style vibes. And the results always speak for themselves.

For this look, I wanted to focus on the ‘athleisure’ trend that’s been marketed everywhere. The look comprises of a full black on black suit that hugs the body to give a muscular fit. Let’s be honest, you can never have too much black in your closet HA HA!

Let’s not forget the black on black Nike Air Max that I copped from Shelflife. Let me just add, these are so trendy, but simultaneously amazing for training!

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this post, and expect more exciting content coming your way soon!

Arab Minimalist

I thought for this post I’d change it up, I’ve been meaning to do this look-post for the longest time. About two years back I went for Umrah to the holy city of Makkah and Madina and everywhere I went I noticed how well the thobe and shemagh went together.

So while I was there I decided to get one tailored made and designed it myself. And trust me its amazing how a simple modest white sheet can look so elegant. I tried to keep it as minimalist as possible, but also included some finer details such as the gold cuff links.

I know a few of you might be thinking that I’m wearing eyeliner, hey hey I’m not! Hahaha it’s referred to as surma and was the practice of our Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). It has many benefits and also finishes the look nicely.

If you’d like me to do a tutorial on how to tie the shemagh (Ras Al Khaimah style) leave a comment and I’ll put one up on the blog.

Hair That Will Turn Heads

Grooming

fullsizerender-29

Okay, so recently I got my hands on some sick grooming products courtesy of The London Grooming Company. I tested them out over the holidays and the results were pretty legit (not sponsored, ha!), so I decided to do a little review on my favourite products from their range so that you guys can get to know a little more about their products!
The pomade was definitely my favourite product from the range and is now an essential part of my morning prep routine. One of the reasons I love it so much is because the consistency of the product is in between a wax and a clay, so it creates a silky finish. It’s also quite easy to apply and play around with.

Pricing:

This product is relatively expensive but trust me guys it’s really worth it. If you want to get your hair looking fresh, I suggest you get yourself one. The pomade comes in a 100ml and can be bought online here for R319.00 http://www.londongroomingsa.co.za/product-category/all/

Okay, so let’s talk about the clay as well. I gave it try for a week and discovered that it’s also easy to apply and work. It also has this amazing woody smell. My only concern about using the clay is that it gives you a matte finish instead of a shiny glossy finish, which can be achieved by using the pomade. This is why I prefer the pomade, but hey that’s my personal preference so if I were you I would try both and see which works better with your hair.

Always keep in mind that everyone has different hair types, so different products work better for different hair. The London Grooming Company has products to keep everyone’s hair looking fresh regardless of your hair type or personal preference.
Lastly, I’m going to talk about their aftershave and beard oil. This product is excellent and has been keeping my beard looking proper everyday. The product is very concentrated and requires very little application. It contains argan oil, which softens the strands and prevents that annoying itch. Not to mention your girl will love the woody smell that comes with it!

Keep updated on my blog for more grooming tips and also expect a styling tutorial soon!

Home Spun Grooming Kit Review

Uncategorized

A few weeks back, the kind people from Home Spun sent me their Men’s Connoisseur Grooming Kit for testing.

The kit comes with a beard balm, beard oil, exfoliating soap and lip balm. Now I must say I’ve tried a few grooming products, but these stand out for me because firstly they are all organic, they smell amazing and they work so well with my beard.

The oil softens each strand without leaving it too oily and dense. It also leaves a slight shine which keeps the beard looking fresh. The balm which is to be used after keeps the strands in place and maintains the shape of the beard. It also softens the beard further.

I love the exfoliating bar of soap because if you’ve been an avid reader of my blog you’ll know that I think exfoliating a few times a week is absolutely essential. It leaves the skin feeling soft and smelling great. What more do you need?

I want to thank home spun for sending me these products and I highly rate them so if you’re into grooming your beard trust me it is absolutely worth it!

James Dean Inspired

Style, Uncategorized

One of the biggest trends in street style this season is denim on denim, so I decided to a look post after finding this sick denim jacket from Zara.

One of my biggest style icons ever has got to be James Dean- the quintessential rebel, who always pushed limits in life as well as in fashion.

My look was inspired by him and I went for a very retro vibe. And can I just say that this is by far my favourite look thus far.

The jacket has all these cool badges on and makes the jacket more exciting. And what better way to finish the look than with a skinny faded jeans from Diesel.

This year it’s all been about street style and I think I’m slowly adapting and focusing more on it than anything, because it’s so edgy and I get to push boundaries.

My best friend and photographer Layla Shaik and I love shooting at buildings with glazing and my favourite place to shoot at is Keyes in Rosebank. Here’s what we came up with.

GO WITH YOUR GUT

Style

Lately, I feel like I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone and slowly drifting away from my nonchalant stance in life. And in this post you’ll notice how different I am.

I tried to be as candid as possible with my shots. I even popped a smile in the one shot! If you were to ask me to describe my style in three words, it would be ‘unique, edgy and spontaneous.’ See most of the time I try to picture an outfit in my head and then just go with my gut, regardless of whether it’s what everyone else is going for or not.

I have the same mentality in life, don’t try to make everyone happy, because trust me you won’t succeed. You have to do what’s best for you. I know it’s a cliché, but it’s the only way you’ll remain happy.

Right, now that I’m done being all deep, let’s get back to my outfit. You’ll notice that this outfit is very simple, but fun. The black denim jeans, paired with all black sneakers, bring out the pastel green tee-shirt. Both my tee shirt and denim jeans were sourced from Topman in Sandton which is my go to place for most of my items. Shoutout to LSP for making this shoot so fun.

NYFW INSPIRED STREET STYLE

Style

Not too long ago, yet another successful fashion week was held in New York. And after seeing some really amazing street style shots I decided to do my very own NYFW inspired street style shoot, except mine was done in Sandton.

It’s amazing how a little wind, some yellow cabs and some skyscrapers can instantly make you feel like you’re in another city. If I hadn’t mentioned to you that this shoot was done in Sandton, you probably would’ve thought it really was done in NYC haha!

There’s something about a suit that just makes you feel important. You’re noticed more easily and many people stop and stare out of curiosity to see what it is you’re up to.

For this shoot I partnered up with Kurt Geiger and The Dapper Toad. And I came up with this fresh look. I love how a simple pocket square and floral lapel pin can transform your suit jacket and instantly make it more stylish. If you haven’t already, you should definitely have a look at @thedappertoadsa for all you dapper needs.

CASUAL VIBES

Style

img_0081

So a few people have been asking me what I usually wear to campus, I therefore decided to do a post on a casual look. And no I dont wear formal wear all the time haha. Campus is a really chilled enviroment so I go for a laid back look, usually opting for either a pair of jeans or sweatpants paired with t-shirts, hoodies etc.

I really like cotton t-shirts that are plain and they work perfect in the hot summer weather. Also not forgetting some sneakers like these Adidas Superstars that practically go with everything. If you guys really like this kind of look leave a comment and I’ll do a few more look posts.

You can also expect more street style from now which you’ll see in my next post. I’m really trying to challenge myself to bring better content. Layla and I did this shoot in Parkhurst which is now my go to place for shoots.

Grey sweat pants: H&M

Sneakers: Adidas Superstar

THE LAST OF WINTER FALL

Style

FullSizeRender (8)

As we now enter a new season (Spring) I decided to do one last post for a Winter inspired look. Over the past few days I have been inspired to give my blog a minimalist approach, by focusing on whites, blacks and mostly neutral tones. You’ll even notice my blog has a new logo and design.

The reason for this is I am slowly adapting my style and want my blog to reach new levels. For my avid readers you can expect more consistent posts and content that hopefully will keep you inspired. I am hoping to work with more brands and share my vision with you.

Coming back to this winter look, I just had to show you this lapel winter coat I got from Zara. It’s really warm and also really trendy. Usually I would go for a collared shirt, but the weather was relatively warm which is why I decided on one of my favourite white tees- the famous YSL fitted tee everyone asks me about. I got this as a gift from one of my family relatives who brought it back from her travels to Dubai.

You’ll also notice I’ve been wearing ‘smart’ trousers which are very in at the moment and I got these on sale at Topman. They are really comfortable and pretty much work with anything. I also decided on my metallic Air Force Nike sneakers which I got from Sheshsa.

I am hoping that I will get more posts published in the near future and bring new and exciting content every week. If you are a regular reader on my blog please click on the follow button below and you’ll never miss a post again.
